Hello again, Geoff Dakin here, founder of Alignment First Inc. and creator of the Alignment First Protocol. Today, I want to share with you how a pressing need led to an innovative solution that has allowed me to help patients worldwide.
For many years, I’ve dedicated myself to helping patients overcome chronic pain and improve their quality of life. My journey has taken me across different cities and countries, always refining my approach and developing the Alignment First Protocol. But there was one challenge I hadn’t anticipated: how to continue helping my patients when they couldn’t be physically present at my clinic.
This challenge first presented itself during my time in Los Cabos, Mexico. Many of my patients were seasonal residents who would spend part of the year in Mexico and the rest elsewhere. They loved the results they achieved with the Alignment First Protocol and wanted to continue their progress even when they weren’t in Mexico. One day, a patient asked me a simple yet profound question: “Can you help me over a video call?”
That was nearly 15 years ago, and it was a turning point for me. The idea of conducting consultations via video calls was still relatively new, but I saw the potential immediately. I agreed to try it, and we set up a session over Skype. The session went smoothly, and the patient experienced significant relief, just as they had in person. This success made me realize that I could extend my reach beyond the physical boundaries of my clinic.
Since that first video consultation, I have worked to refine and perfect this method of delivering the Alignment First Protocol online. The goal was to ensure that my patients received the same level of care and effectiveness as they would in person. This meant developing clear, easy-to-follow instructions, utilizing technology to provide real-time feedback, and even inventing tests, ensuring that every session was as personalized and impactful as possible.
The results have been remarkable. I’ve been able to help patients from all over the world—people who otherwise wouldn’t have had access to the Alignment First Protocol. Whether they’re in a different city, country, or even continent, I can guide them through the exercises, monitor their progress, and adjust their treatment plans as needed.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this solution is the feedback from my patients. They appreciate the convenience and flexibility of online consultations. They no longer have to travel long distances or interrupt their schedules to receive the care they need. The ability to connect from the comfort of their homes has made a significant difference in their commitment and consistency.
Moreover, this approach has allowed me to stay connected with my patients, no matter where life takes them. I’ve seen firsthand how effective and empowering it is for patients to have continuous support and guidance, which has further motivated me to keep improving the online consultation experience.
The transition to video consultations proved especially valuable during the COVID-19 pandemic. While many of my colleagues were at home watching Netflix, I was able to seamlessly move much of my practice online, continuing to provide essential care to my patients. This adaptability not only kept my practice running but also reinforced the importance and effectiveness of remote consultations.
Adapting to video consultations has also made me a better practitioner. It has pushed me to become more precise in my instructions and more creative in my problem-solving. The limitations of not being physically present have been offset by the incredible opportunity to reach and help more people than ever before.
The journey to developing this solution has been one of learning and growth. It has shown me that challenges can be turned into opportunities with the right mindset and a willingness to innovate.
Thank you for letting me share this story with you. Remember, no matter where you are, effective and personalized help is just a video call away. Together, we can continue to explore new ways of healing and improving our quality of life.
Yours in health,
Geoff Dakin
